Dr Tometzki is a Senior Paediatric Cardiologist at The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Bristol is now one of the largest Congenital Heart Services in the country with excellent results for both surgery and interventional cardiac catheterisation. Dr Tometzki is considered a regional expert accepting referrals from all over South West England and South Wales as well as further afield for his work in interventional cardiac catheterisation for congenital and structural heart disease as well as for fetal cardiology.
Fetal cardiology is a very specialised area of congenital heart disease with two specialists based in Bristol covering the majority of the South West of England. Much of this work is undertaken via telemedicine allowing remote diagnosis and counselling of couples without the need to travel long distances. Dr Tometzki is also an accomplished echocardiographer (ultrasound examination of the heart) for all ages from foetus to adulthood. He accepts referrals of patients with heart murmurs, faints (syncope), palpitations as well as screening for inherited cardiac disease in childhood/adolescence such as cardiomyopathy.
